Meet Brianne

Hello! I'm Brianne Kirkpatrick. Please explore my site and use it for its resources, to learn more from my blog posts, or to reach out to me for 1-on-1 help.

My goal is to help you understand DNA better. I want you to become a savvy user of DNA testing, feel confident in your understanding of the results, and find support if DNA testing stirs up emotions for you (as it does for many).

After many years in the clinic and research setting as a licensed and certified genetic counselor, I founded Watershed DNA to be able to reach more people. I write, provide 1-on-1 consultations, use social media, and volunteer what time I can to help others be in the driver's seat in today's world of DNA testing.

I am an alumnus of Indiana University and Northwestern University and a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors, American Counseling Association, International Society of Genetic Genealogy, and the National Genealogical Society and certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.

I live in Crozet, Virginia with my husband and three children. Read more about my background here.

Honored to have written for, been featured, and hosted on podcasts, news outlets, and various academic journals.
